When my perfect sister stole my husband while I was pregnant, I felt completely shattered. She always believed she was better than me and finally got what she wanted. But life has a way of turning things around. When everything fell apart for her, she showed up at my door, begging for help.
All my life, I had been in second place. No matter how hard I tried, I was never enough for my parents. I brought home straight A’s, kept my room spotless, and did everything I could to make them proud.

But none of that mattered. Stacy, my younger sister, was their shining star. While I was quietly succeeding in school and doing chores without being asked, Stacy was breaking records at swim meets.
My parents treated her like a celebrity and spent every spare moment focused on her success. I felt invisible.
The only person who ever truly saw me was my grandmother. She would often take me to her home, where I felt warmth and love that I never felt at my own house.

In many ways, she raised me. I spent weekends and summers with her, learning to cook, watching old movies, and feeling like I mattered.
When I graduated high school, my parents didn’t even pretend to care. They kicked me out, telling me I was on my own now.
It was my grandmother who helped me move into my college dorm after I earned a scholarship.

That scholarship was my only way to escape. Once I turned 18, I refused to take any more money from her.
She had done enough for me. When I landed a good job after graduation, I was proud to finally be able to give back to her.
Now, I am married to Henry. My grandmother never liked him. She always said something felt off about him, but I believed he loved me.

Recently, though, my grandmother had been feeling unwell. I felt a knot in my stomach as I drove to her house.
I knew I had to visit her. She needed me now, just like I had always needed her.
We were sitting at the kitchen table, sipping tea. My grandmother stirred her tea slowly, her eyes focused on the cup. Then, she looked up and asked, “Are you still with Henry?”

I froze for a moment, my fingers tightening around my mug. “Of course,” I said. “We’re married.”
Her eyes didn’t leave mine. “And his affairs?”
I shifted uncomfortably in my chair. That question hurt more than I wanted to admit. “He promised he wouldn’t cheat again,” I said.

“And you believe him?” she asked softly.
“I’m trying,” I murmured. “He loves me. I have to believe that.” I hesitated, then added, “I’m pregnant. I want my child to have a father.”
My grandmother’s expression didn’t change. “That’s not love, May,” she said gently.

“He sees me,” I said, trying to convince both of us.
“Then why does he spend so much time with your parents and Stacy?” she asked.
I looked away. “I talk to them too. Just not as much,” I said, trying to brush it off.

“Exactly.” She let out a heavy sigh. “I don’t want to upset you, but my friend saw Henry and Stacy together. They were at a restaurant.”
My stomach dropped. I felt like I couldn’t breathe. “What are you saying?” I asked, my voice trembling.
“Maybe Stacy couldn’t handle you being happy,” she said softly.
“That’s ridiculous!” I snapped, my heart pounding. “I don’t want to talk about this!”

I grabbed my bag and stood up. I couldn’t listen anymore. As I headed for the door, I heard her voice, calm but filled with worry. “May, sweetheart, I’m only trying to help,” she said gently. But I was already gone.
As I drove home, my anger boiled inside me. My grandmother had crossed the line this time.
How could she say something so cruel? Henry had made mistakes, but he was trying. And Stacy? She was selfish, but even she wouldn’t stoop that low.

When I pulled into the driveway, I turned off the engine and took a deep breath. I needed to calm down.
But the moment I stepped inside, something felt wrong. Then, I heard noises coming from upstairs.
Soft, muffled sounds that shouldn’t have been there. My heart pounded as I climbed the stairs.

My hands shook as I reached for the bedroom door. I swung it open and froze.
Henry and Stacy. In my bed.
Tears filled my eyes. I couldn’t move. For a moment, the world stopped. Henry was the first to see me.
His eyes went wide with panic as he jumped out of bed, scrambling to put on his clothes.

“May! What are you doing here?!” Henry shouted, his voice filled with panic.
I couldn’t believe my ears. “What am I doing in my own house?!” I screamed, my voice shaking.
“You were supposed to be at your grandmother’s!” Henry barked, pulling on his shirt.

“That’s all you have to say?” I asked, my eyes filling with tears. “I just caught you in bed with my sister, and that’s your excuse?”
“So what?” Stacy said, sitting up in bed. A smirk spread across her face. “I’m better than you. I always have been. No wonder Henry realized it too.”
“How dare you!” I yelled, my anger boiling over.

“But it’s true,” Henry said, his tone cold and cruel. “Stacy is prettier. She always looks good, wears makeup, and stays in shape.”
“And she doesn’t work!” I snapped.
“Having a job doesn’t matter,” Henry said. “And let’s be honest. You’ve gained weight.”

My stomach dropped. My hand instinctively touched my belly. “Because I’m pregnant! With your child!” I screamed.
Henry’s face hardened. “I don’t know if that’s true,” he said. “Stacy and I talked. I’m not sure the baby is mine.”
My mouth fell open. I could barely breathe. “Are you kidding me?! You’ve been the one cheating on me over and over!”
